Beyond the Signature: Reflections from Relativity Fest and What Comes Next

At this year’s Relativity Fest, I had the privilege of joining a panel of industry leaders to discuss how organizations are transforming signed agreements into structured, actionable data using Relativity Contracts. Alongside experts like Katie Bosley (UnitedLex), Alex Burakovsky (KPMG), Rishi Khullar (Relativity) and moderated by Tricia Johnson (Relativity), we explored the real-world challenges and opportunities of AI-powered contract review—and the energy in the room was palpable.

What stood out most was the shared recognition that contracts are no longer static documents filed away after signature. They’re rich repositories of business-critical data—data that, when unlocked, can drive smarter decisions across compliance, procurement, M&A, and beyond. At Cimplifi, we’ve seen firsthand how combining human expertise with AI precision can accelerate review cycles, reduce risk, and surface insights that were previously buried in PDFs.

One of the most important takeaways from the session was the shift in mindset around contract data. Historically, organizations have focused heavily on pre-signature workflows—redlining, negotiation, and execution. But the real value often lies in the post-signature phase, where thousands of agreements sit in repositories, holding key information about obligations, risks, and entitlements. Relativity Contracts is helping teams extract that data with speed and accuracy, enabling use cases like royalty validation, service-level enforcement, and regulatory compliance that were previously too complex or costly to pursue.

Another powerful insight came from the discussion around AI-human collaboration. While AI models are increasingly capable of extracting structured data from unstructured documents, the highest-value outcomes still require human judgment. At Cimplifi, we’ve developed hybrid workflows that pair AI-driven extraction with subject matter expert validation—delivering precision at scale without sacrificing context. This approach not only improves accuracy but also empowers legal and business teams to make confident decisions faster. It’s not just about having a human-in-the-loop—it’s about having the right expert in the loop, someone who understands the nuances of contract language and can guide the AI to deliver meaningful results.

We also touched on the importance of industry-specific customization. Whether you’re in life sciences, energy, or financial services, the nuances of your contracts matter. Relativity’s flexible prompt-based architecture allows us to tailor extractions to the unique language and structure of each client’s agreements. This is a game-changer for organizations that need to track complex provisions like pass-through costs, tariff impacts, or licensing terms across large contract portfolios.

At Cimplifi, our CI Contracts process is designed to operationalize this transformation—combining contract intelligence, AI-powered extraction, and expert validation into a repeatable, scalable workflow that delivers actionable insights across the contract lifecycle.

But the conversation doesn’t stop there.

On November 12 at 1pm ET, I’ll be joining Virginia Ring, principal at Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton, LLP, and Rishi Khullar, Group Product Manager at Relativity, for a follow-up webinar: “Beyond the Signature: Unlocking Contract Intelligence with Relativity Contracts.” We’ll dive deeper into the strategies, workflows, and use cases that are helping legal teams and business units extract real value from their contracts. Whether you’re just starting your journey with AI or looking to scale your contract review operations, this session will offer practical takeaways you can apply immediately. Register here to join us to continue the conversation. Let’s move beyond the signature and into the future of contract intelligence.
